We’ve all had New Year’s resolutions, but more often than not, we end up forgetting about them a few weeks after we make them. That’s why I don’t usually like to make very many: I don’t want to fail because there is too much on my plate!
So, to make sure that this coming year is different—and that I actually stick to my resolutions—I’ve thought of just a handful of meaningful ones. Here they are!

Taking Charge and Starting My Dream Business
I’ve always wanted to be my own boss and own a business, but until now, I haven’t had the opportunity to do it.
For the last ten years, I’ve worked at a boring office job. The money is nothing to complain about, and the benefits are great, but it simply isn’t what I want to do for the rest of my life.
Recently, some things in my life took a turn for the better, and I’ve now decided to take charge and open my own business. So, one of my New Year’s resolutions is to quit my job, register my new company, and create a dazzling logo. If I can get these things done and figured out quickly, I’m sure I’ll have no problem taking on any future challenges!
Finally Learning to Play the Piano
I’ve always wanted to play the piano, but my parents were never able to afford a teacher, let alone the instrument. Worse, once I was old enough to work and make my own money, I completely forgot about my dream of becoming a virtuoso. I got swept up in other things!
A few days ago, however, I was reminded of my dream while watching a YouTube video of a master pianist. Listening to him play some of my favorite songs, I was captivated, and felt a renewed urge to learn.
This coming year, I’m going to buy a keyboard and some lessons to go with it. I don’t know how long it’ll take to learn even one of my favorite songs, but I’m sure it’ll be well worth the effort!
Cleaning Up My Appearance
My self-esteem has taken a hit over the last couple of years. I’ve noticed more and more gray hairs on my head and deep wrinkles around my eyes. These signs of aging have never been so glaring and upsetting—even my cheeks can’t help sagging!
This year, I’m going to consult a plastic surgeon and inquire about a deep plane facelift. I want to turn back the hands of time! A few of my friends have undergone the procedure, and after a few years, they still look incredible. I want the same for myself!
Additionally, I would like to clear my wardrobe of old, tattered clothes and wear more exciting pieces more often. I’ve always loved to dress up, but sometimes, I get too comfortable in the same old clothes and forget that there are other, better options out there. That said, I also want to buy new shirts, pants, dresses, skirts, and accessories. I also want to try out a new hairstyle to look and feel completely fresh!
A Tropical Getaway Has Never Looked Better
Hawaii has always been the destination of my travel dreams, but it has always been too far away to reach out and grab. Work stresses kept me from traveling, but now that I’m about to start my own business, I figure that I deserve to treat myself with a tropical vacation. Talk about starting off the New Year right!
In May, I’m going to take off a few weeks and fly to Maui to spend some quality time with my family and see all of the things that the great state has to offer. I plan to lounge in the sun, drink mojitos, and even do some snorkeling. The sea is gorgeous in Hawaii, and I can’t wait to relish its beauty. I also can’t wait to send postcards to my loved ones.
Hawaii will be the perfect getaway!
