Your names
We know, you’re probably rolling your eyes at us at this very moment and questioning why you even clicked this link in the first place. But stay with us for a second.
A few months ago, we received a wedding invitation in the post and opened it with bated excitement. It was a beautiful, lace-inspired design and had clearly been handwritten by an experienced calligrapher.
It contained the date of the wedding, great, popped in the diary. It contained the time, great, added it to iCal. And it contained the location, great, plugged it in to Google Maps.
There was just one problem, somehow, the couple had managed to entirely forget to include their names. It left us with a fun game of ‘who could’ this be. However, it was with eventual relief, and whilst anticipating turning up at the church with a nameless wedding card, that we received an apology text message from the soon to be bridge and groom.
So, yes, it may seem obvious but when you’re organizing a wedding, you’d be surprised at how easy it is to forget some of the simple things. Make sure that you include your names and when you get the invites, check them, check them again and check them a third time.
The venues
Again, this is a pretty obvious component but there’s a reason that this is pluralized. Whilst these days, it’s increasingly common for weddings to happen in one venue and under one roof. But in some cases, there are going to be numerous locations involved. Make sure that you include and every aspect of these, it’ll just make things much easier in the long-run.
It’s also worth including any additional information about the venue, that might be useful for guests, For example, parking or access information. They might seem like relatively small additions, but they could make a huge difference to the smooth running of your big day.
The end time
We know that you’ll remember to include the start time, after all, it’s one of the main reasons why you send out invitations in the first place. However, it can save you a lot of time and effort if you ensure that you also include an end time.
This will allow guests to make their own arrangements, whether that be organising a hotel room or a taxi to collect a few of your guests. Either wat, it will be a useful inclusion and will help you, and other people, to feel organised.
A picture
Ok, so this is not essential but it’s a nice addition and will definitely help your invitation to have an extra, more personal touch. We suggest using a fun or humorous image of yourself, something with bundles of story and character. This is your chance to open the door on your relationship and to remind your guests of exactly what they are going to be celebrating.
