Our days are filled with things to do, obligations and deadlines to meet, among other numerous activities, all of which demand our time, energy and effort. When you are constantly faced with a list of things you must do, places where you have to be, people you had better see, it can become wearing and demoralising.
Many people encounter bouts of low levels of motivation. The trick is to find ways to help you work past the demotivation and help you move again. Here are some tips on how to get motivated on those days when you just aren’t feeling it.

Find the Reason
They say that the first step toward a solution is admitting that there is a problem. Before you can begin to find motivation, you should try to figure out what is creating the lack. Many times, lacking motivation stems from a deeper issue. For example, you may be doing something that you find boring or unfulfilling. You may also find something difficult, reducing your enthusiasm to take on the task or activity.
Whatever the scenario, you should examine the reason behind your lack of motivation. Knowing the cause may help you understand your mindset and guide you in the best course of action to take.
Get Inspired
When faced with a lack of motivation, you should find something or someone to inspire you to act once again. You can even find inspiration before you endeavour to embark on your journey, task, or activity. Being inspired at the beginning can keep you motivated and help you stay the course.
Get Some Help and Keep Moving
You can get some help to get you moving. Support comes in many forms: encouragement from friends or family, advice from experts, or even guidance. In addition, to help, you can seek a partner to work with. A helping hand can be just what convinces you to get started, while accountability will maintain your motivation. Once you have begun, you should keep moving. Doing something in stops and starts can decrease your willingness to see it through.
Have Some Goals
When you are working towards something whose path seems dreary and uninteresting, you can find it hard to get enough motivation to do what is required of you. To give yourself the best chance at ensuring you complete that task that is awaiting your attention or meeting that deadline that is looming, you should set some goals. Divide them into short, mid, and long term goals to have checkpoints against which you can work. Using checkpoints can also help you see the progress you have made, thus motivating you to reach the next goal.
Reward Yourself
Have you heard of the carrot and the stick? Setting a reward for completing a task or meeting a goal can help keep you motivated enough to see it through to the end. The size of the prize can match the size of the accomplishment. Rewarding yourself can even motivate you enough to seek out a new task or goal.
You can get motivated to start or keep at something when you join a PCYC club near you. Each club brings people together to a community that creates an environment where you can find encouragement, inspiration or advice that will have you willing to move again.
Don’t Be Unrealistic/Be Unrealistic
How is it possible to be and not to be unrealistic at the same time? Well, it is actually quite easy. After you establish some goals, you need to believe you can achieve the unachievable. For instance, you have a complete right to dream that you are going to be a millionaire one day. However, this doesn’t mean you should expect you will manage to achieve your goal for a couple of months.
There comes the moment when you need to be realistic! Stay on the ground and prepare yourself to be the most patient person in the world. The big goals that you have are there to push you up whenever you feel bad. However, if you want everything to happen instantly, then those goals will start to look too unrealistic, and that will reduce your motivation even more. You will start feeling like there is no proper reason why you should even invest a lot of effort and time in something that looks impossible.
Use Online Technology to Gain Motivation
There is probably no reason to talk about the influence that technology has on our lives. People have changed their habits and way of living, and they spend a lot of their time online. The question is – why do you have to use online technology for social media, music, and movies, when you can use it to gain motivation?
We are not talking here about subscribing to a channel of a life coach on YouTube that will provide you with some valuable tips. You should follow individuals that were in the same situation as you before they managed to become successful. Their story will inspire you and convince you that hard work always pays off. Besides, you will also see that those people have worked for years or even decades to reach the goal that you dream to achieve. You will also see that every path to success is full of ups and downs, but those individuals didn’t stop, and that is the reason why they succeed; that is going to be the reason why you became successful one day!
Surround Yourself with Good People
As previously mentioned, friends, family, and professional help are sometimes necessary. They know which pieces of advice they need to give to us and inspire us to work hard on our personal improvement. However, there are some people that do not even have to provide you a tip, and they will inspire you with the effort they are investing to reach their goal.
For instance, let’s imagine that you want to become a graphic designer and start a business in that industry one day. However, there are many problems you can’t solve such as lack of self-discipline to improve your knowledge and skills, lack of money to start a business, etc. However, if you spend time with someone who has the same problems but still manages to work hard every single day, that will inspire you to do the same thing. More precisely, you will start asking yourself “why am I not capable of doing the same?” Try to find more and more people that are on the same path as you and get the necessary inspiration when you start feeling mentally weak.
